There is a new release out for Open Office the free version you should have on your computer instead of Microsoft Office. It works as good and sometimes even better and is totally free.

The new version is 3.0 Public Beta and it have some new features like layout and support for spreadsheet collaboration through workbook sharing; and an increase to 1024 columns per sheet.

It will work with the new Windows Office 2008 and Mac OS X.

But if you not need the new release just yet Open Office tells users to wait for the real Open Office 3.0 to finish.
