After running some cracked versions of Norton Anti virus from the local DVD shop around the corner i decided i would not support them anymore. Norton is way to slow for me and takes to much space on the hard drive.

I decided to take a extra look at two free Anti virus program.

AVG on the plus side:

    * Looks good feels good works good.
* Very easy to use for the total noob, like my girlfriend.
* It finds more stuff then Avast but i do not know if that is a good or bad thing.
* Very easy to install.

AVG on the minus side

    * Call it the x factor but things start happening with my computer after i installed AVG. It was like i had a something inside the computer that was bugging it. As soon as i took AVG out the computer started working OK again.
* Do not get me going on the malware detection browser plugin it really sucks. It crawls every website there is and it people where to visit one of my favorite free music lyrics site that has over 400 000 pages the surfing would take forever.
* The Virus engine does not stop when you want to with can be a hassle when you play games.
* You almost feel like they want you to buy the paid version all the time since many buttons warn you to buy the paid version or else.

—

Avast good stuff:

    * It uses less CPU then Norton and AVG
* Avast does not need fancy extras to take care of the work it does it anyway.
* Easy to turn on and off.
* Does not create the X factor like Norton and AVG take takes your computer hostage or something like that.

Avast bad stuff:

    * The Avast is very ugly.
* Some people like my girlfriend need helps installing it.
* The people behind Avast can be a bit slower to update the Norton and AVG but it gets the work done.

Finally i went with Avast because i do not want something to take over my computer and i feel that jumping from Norton to AVG is just a side step not a step forward.

Avast Antivirus Free version download
AVG Antivirus Free version download
