My dream wall art

I have thought about start taking photos for a long time now. I need to buy a camera off course and then learn how to take photos in a good a professional way. I saw some photos my friend took of the beach and they were really good and if compare with my compact camera I could never get those kind of pictures.

If I get my camera going I think I want to take pictures from the nature and especially animals. I love animals and they are such lovely to look at and you can do it forever. I want to take photos of endangered animals that maybe not going to be here in a few years and we need to raise awareness about them.

For example the polar bear are in the news sometimes but then people forget them. They are really dying out and when I saw starving polar bears die because they could not hunt on the ice any more it really made me cry. We need to do something about the situation about polar bears and make people aware of they are threatened.
The global warming is not a joke and it is here to stay and if just take a look at the news from Ohio now what floods they have. Some say the global warming is jokes but believe me we need to make people aware of the problem and great photos can change people minds.

I could then with a good camera off course sell the photos as wall art to people that want to buy huge photos of polar bears and other animals. I am sure people would buy them if the money going to a good cause, wall art looks great and most homes and is cheap compared to paintings.

Facts about image editing

Facts about image editing

With the use of digital technology in photography and the introduction of digital cameras, image editing has become an easier process and there are various software applications which can be used appropriately for altering the images according to one’s own choice. Prior to the inception of digital cameras, there were analog cameras and in such cases editing of images was done through a process known as photo retouching. Among the various software programs which are used in order to edit digital images include raster graphic editors, 3D modelers and vector graphic editors. These applications can aid immensely in altering or transforming the original images to give rise to new creations. There are several kinds of raster based graphic editors which are helpful in this endeavor like GIMP, Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Corel Photo-Paint and Paint.NET.

A notable change in the image occurs in digital cameras which support JPEG formats while in case of PNG formats the original image remains compact without any form of compression or distortion. In case of editing a part or a particular area of the image, that portion has to be selected initially. Certain graphic tools like vector based pen tools or lasso can be of help in this regard. It is also possible to resize the images according to one’s choice with the help of image scaling. A significant means of image editing in digital cameras is by cropping the image whereby unwanted portions of the image may be edited out only to retain the necessary part. Moreover it is also possible to engage in unwanted noise reduction and removal of objects in a photograph which are not required or are not integral to the photo. Image distortion and color changes are common features of image editing. Certain graphic tools allow the merging of separate images into one. The most important function of image editing is the addition of special effects which give the images a different dimension altogether.

Disadvantages of digital cameras

Disadvantages of digital cameras

Digital technology now rules the world and has made its presence felt in a plethora of activities and digital cameras have greatly benefited from the use of digital technology thus enhancing the quality of the pictures. Usually a vast section of people have accepted the advantages of using the digital camera because of its merits though it cannot be denied that there are certain problems that are faced by photographers with respect to the usage of digital cameras as well. It should be kept in mind that in the advanced economies of the world like the countries of Western Europe and the United States of America, the use of superior and advanced technical tools overshadows the various demerits of digital cameras. But despite so, professional photographers often encounter certain difficulties with respect to these digital cameras. Digital cameras are complex structures and they require specialized batteries and in case of shooting in remote locations the photographers are required to carry all the necessary requisites and in case of any technical snag or glitches and damage to the camera, digital cameras cannot be repaired or fixed easily like film cameras. The RAW formatted files which are mostly used for image editing and processing purposes take longer duration than that of a 35 mm film. Moreover, downloading a huge number of images to a personal computer subtracts a large fraction of the shooting time as well.

It is to be remembered in these cases that film cameras are analog cameras and they contain photographic films where the photos are stored before printing and unlike digital cameras their battery consumption is far lesser. Moreover, the film images are more trustworthy than the digital camera images as in case of digital photos it is possible to alter the images easily. Another common problem is the inclusion of unwanted noise within images and some digital cameras have digital sensors having lesser dynamic range than films.

Digital photo frame

Digital photo frame

Human beings lead their lives and gather innumerable experiences, of joy and sadness, which last them through their lifetime. There come various occasions in one’s life when one reaches the zenith and is at the doorstep of success and there are times when one has the experience of a lifetime celebrating in social, cultural or religious festivals. While some incidents remain etched in the memory forever, without the presence of cameras, it would never have been possible to share these wonderful experiences with one’s acquaintances. Therefore, the scenic beauty of an erstwhile civilization which has suddenly been destroyed by some natural calamity would have remained out of bounds forever, had there not been photographs to enable the world to experience what it had been like. Therefore cameras have been a boon and a technological innovation of paramount importance in day to day life at present. The first cameras used analog skills but with the advancement of time these cameras are slowly fading into oblivion with the coming to the forefront of the digital cameras using enhanced digital technology which provide great picture quality. Today devices of every day use possess digitized cameras for taking photographs.

Digital photo frames are specialized frames used for displaying digital photographs. With the help of digital photo frames it is possible to view digital photos in a computer or even a television set. A majority of digital photo frames support the JPEG images while some others may also support the viewing of video footages taken in the digital camera via the MPEG and MP3 audio formats as well. With the aid of RSS feeds it is also possible to load pictures on the internet or enjoy photo sharing through Picasa and Flickr. The digital frames have metal, wood or plastic displays and are comprised of the PCB, the LCD panel and the outside frame. The pictures are displayed from the memory card of the camera through the USB port.

Digital image processing

Digital image processing

Before the coming of digital cameras there were the analog devices which used photographic films for the purpose and in such case image processing was done in darkrooms with the help of photo retouching method. However with the progress of time, technological developments ensued the birth of digital cameras and it must be admitted that editing digital images is not a very complex endeavor as the presence of computers and the various software application tools make it an easy process. Digital image processing refers to the means by which digital images are processed with the help of computer based algorithms. Digital signal processing allows the exemption of unwanted noise and sound effects which may affect the final quality of the digital imagery with the help of a wide variety of computer based algorithms. It was in the 1960s that the various techniques and tools to be implemented fro digital image processing were being introduced and initially it was an expensive proposition as computers were slow and fewer hardware options were available. However in the 21st century, with the widespread usage and presence of computers and signal processors as well, digital image processing has become widely prevalent.

In case of digital image processing, most digital cameras use the digital image processing chips in order to convert the raw data into the image sensor in the standard file format of the image files. Finally it is with the help of multitudes of software applications that aid image editing that the digital image processing is carried out. Moreover, it is necessary to remember that since the computer algorithms used fro this purpose are complex, the resultant output after processing is an enhanced product. For techniques like pattern recognition, projection, feature extraction, classification and multi-scale signal analysis, digital processing is highly recommended. Some of the processing programs include self-organizing maps, neural networks, independent and principal component analysis and hidden Markov models.

Diffrent digital file formats

Digital file formats

In case of the functioning of digital cameras, it is immensely significant to remember that unlike the analog cameras, they are not provided with films for storage of pictures and in digital cameras the memory cards act as the storage device. Once the images have been captured the pictures need to be transferred to the computer via the USB port supplied with the camera. The digital camera supports certain image file formats and the computers too support certain specific image file formats and these formatting are very significant in case of further image editing and processing with the use of graphics and other software applications as well. Therefore it can be concluded without a trace of doubt that the image file formats are absolutely essential for arranging and storage of image files. These image files are comprised of various pixels which may be organized in the form of a rectangular grid or even as geometrical figures and the sizes of these files are represented in the form of bytes. The image resolution is also greatly dependent on the pixels and there are various methods like image editing, compression and processing which make use of these file formats.

There are various kind of image file formats and can be broadly divided into the vector and the raster formats. Vector file formats make use of geometrical structures like polygons and curves and they comprise of 3D image files which allow texture mapping of pixel data. There is also the SVG or Scalable Vector Graphics is a vector file formatting designed specifically for the web. The raster graphic file formats store images in the form of bitmaps and includes JPEG or Joint Photographic Experts Group, the RAW which refers to raw image formats, PNG or Portable Network Graphics, TIFF or Tagged Image File Formats, BMP files or bitmap image formats and GIF or Graphic Interchange Formats.
