From Norton to a free Antivirus the journy

After running some cracked versions of Norton Anti virus from the local DVD shop around the corner i decided i would not support them anymore. Norton is way to slow for me and takes to much space on the hard drive.

I decided to take a extra look at two free Anti virus program.

AVG on the plus side:

* Looks good feels good works good.
* Very easy to use for the total noob, like my girlfriend.
* It finds more stuff then Avast but i do not know if that is a good or bad thing.
* Very easy to install.

AVG on the minus side

* Call it the x factor but things start happening with my computer after i installed AVG. It was like i had a something inside the computer that was bugging it. As soon as i took AVG out the computer started working OK again.
* Do not get me going on the malware detection browser plugin it really sucks. It crawls every website there is and it people where to visit one of my favorite free music lyrics site that has over 400 000 pages the surfing would take forever.
* The Virus engine does not stop when you want to with can be a hassle when you play games.
* You almost feel like they want you to buy the paid version all the time since many buttons warn you to buy the paid version or else.

Avast good stuff:

* It uses less CPU then Norton and AVG
* Avast does not need fancy extras to take care of the work it does it anyway.
* Easy to turn on and off.
* Does not create the X factor like Norton and AVG take takes your computer hostage or something like that.

Avast bad stuff:

* The Avast is very ugly.
* Some people like my girlfriend need helps installing it.
* The people behind Avast can be a bit slower to update the Norton and AVG but it gets the work done.

Finally i went with Avast because i do not want something to take over my computer and i feel that jumping from Norton to AVG is just a side step not a step forward.

Create extra Firefox profiles

There is a very nice way to get more use of your Firefox then you can see in the menu. You can actually create more then one profile of Firefox and that profile will have its own cookies and plugin

You can pick the profile you want to use from a new start up menu or you can create short cuts to put on your desktop the choice is yours.

If your computer has enough CPU running you can actually run as many Firefox versions as you like to your computers says stop. It can be good for check multiple Gmails accounts at the same time.

I will not take the time to explain how you do this or will I take the credit but check this link and you will be a lot wiser.

Do not trust your local SEO guru

Some times these so called internet gurus are not that clever. They are giving away free version of their work. According to them self they had study Google and the market for months and asked all the experts.

But how clever are this gurus to protect their hard work and how much would it cost them to do it? Not much at all maybe a few extra min of work and that would be it for internet pirates.

Now the pirates are sailing the Google sea of free information and putting in things like “thank you CB”, “CB download” and other similar things. The internet pirates will hit gold almost on the first page and can download the treasures with out passing PayPal from the thank you page. A simple password on the PDF or zip file would stop them for a while and everybody knows that.

So sometimes the internet gurus are not that clever, do some searchers and see for your self.

Would you trust a locksmith that does not even know how to lock his own back door?

Firefox 3 is here and it is great

I have done my part of the download record and brought down Firefox 3. I think it looks much faster then Firefox 2 and for now faster then Internet Explorer.

The new tag system look and works great I can find old sites by just typing in some letters and it does not have to be a real match. The bad thing with this is that someone checking your computer can just type in “girls” and found something you not want to show.

Another good thing is the option to save the password after you tried to log in. Before you could only save it before you tried it. Then you had to resave it all the time but that function has now been approved.
