Did you just mistake the above picture for ancient versions of SanDisk ready to be shipped off to the museums?

Well, these ones are gold….. Yes, Solid Gold!

SanDisk is holding a contest in Japan where those who purchase their Extreme IV 8GB CompactFlash or UltraII 4GB SDHC cards in marked packages could win solid gold versions of the cards.

The gold version of the CompactFlash card weighs around 150g, while the SDHC gold card weighs at 35g.

Winners of the contest will be pocketing around $5000 in total, which personally, I would have used to purchase a lot of upgrades for my PC, maybe a better and more comfortable chair to sit on while typing these blog entries, or even a cup of coffee.

P.S: I can easily bet that whoever wins these will be selling them off for the weight of gold.
