There is water on Mars

The new Mars Lander has found ice on Mars. That means that there could be life or maybe could be life on Mars. I guess that’s good to know if we drop some nukes on our planet and need to go some where else.

They mission is very important to see if we can put people on Mars or If there ever was some life on Mars.

Let see when the Mars lander come back to earth if it can show us any samples of the water it found.

Different kinds LCD technology

LCD technology

It was in the closing decades of the 20th century that the large screen television technologies began to develop and with the progress of time and the introduction of new technological innovations, one could see the emergence of flat screen televisions. There were several different technological tools which were used in the formation of these flat screen devices, the foremost among them being the LCD technology. Primitive technologies like the CRT or the use of cathode ray tubes moved into oblivion as the flat screen techniques took centre stage and at present is the prevalent form used in the manufacture of television sets. The LCD or the liquid crystal technique is dependent on the pixels on the LCD which are again comprised of certain constituent factors. These include two glass plates with molecules, two polarizing filters and the liquid crystal molecules.

There are also different kinds of LCD display technologies which play a major role in the flat screen technologies. These include the Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment or MVA and it is preferred at times because of its swifter response times and higher contrast ratios compared to many of the other techniques. However its reduced brightness is a setback. Another technique is the Twisted Nematic or TN which is among the commonest forms used for flat screen techniques. The other procedures include In-Plane Switching or IPS and Patterned Vertical Alignment or PVA. The use of these LCD techniques in the manufacture of flat screens are beneficial for several reasons like firstly it is space saving and also looks smarter and stylish and are slimmer versions. Moreover they do not suffer from burn-ins like the bulky television sets of earlier times.

However it must be pointed out that the presence of small film transistors in case of LCDs often lead to the formation of defective pixels thus affecting visibility and blurring or distortion of images. Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Toshiba, Akai are premier manufacturers of flat screens.

James P Mitchell developed the first trial product of the LED

James P Mitchell developed the first trial product of the LED

The term LED is an acronym for light-emitting diode and is a significant technique which was implemented in the use of flat screen television. The light emitting diode is a semi-conductor diode which emits a narrower light spectrum when electricity is passed through it. The semi-conducting material used may be visible, near-ultraviolet or infrared and it the composition of this semi-conductor material which determines the color of the light rays which are emitted. The pattern of radiation of the light-emitting diodes is determined by the addition of extra optics that is added to this chip. It is important to note here that the LEDs are considered good options as power-saving devices as they emit much more light per watt than normal luminous bulbs and are therefore are extremely useful as an energy–saving device. The LEDs has strong natural life and therefore they are popularly used for various kinds of functioning and because of being formed of solid state components they are not prone to any sort of initial damage as a result of electric shocks.

It was in early 1977 that James. P. Mitchell developed the first trial product of the flat panel LED television screen and it was constituted by MV50 LEDs and the TTL or the transistor transistor logic which referred to the then newly developed memory addressing circuit technology. This innovation was greatly appreciated by organizations of great renown like General Motors Corporation and NASA and in 1978 this prototype was displayed for the first time in the Engineering Exposition. This early example of the flat panel LED television screen comprised of red monochromes and it was only in the 1990s that the cheaper blue LEDs came into being for use in these purposes. this was followed by the emergence of other color schemes as well and it was prevalently used in as billboards and in stadiums as high resolution displays.

Raster graphics explained

Raster graphics explained

The prevalence of digital technology has entered every sphere of technological activity and they are a very significant component of digital cameras whose functioning is based on the efficiency of these digital technological tools. It is necessary to remember that in digital cameras there are no photographic films like those of the early analog cameras and therefore storage of captured images are dependent on storage devices provided with the camera in the form of memory cards. These images are then transferred to the computer with the help of the USB port. Within the computer, there are provided several software applications which can be put into use in order to alter or enhance the images or edit them according to choice. The digital cameras also support certain fixed image file formats which heed to be supplemented by the computer as well for image editing and image processing. Raster graphics image refer to a bitmap or a digital image which is a kind of computer graphic induced image and it is saved within the image files having different formatting. These graphics are made of a set of pixels arranged in the form of a rectangular framework and can be viewed most prominently with the aid of computers.

The pixels in Raster graphics is made of the three primary colors viewable to the human eye, namely, red, blue and green and these colors call for greater resolution power thus requiring about a single byte. While on the contrary, in case of black and white images, the requirement is about a single bit per pixel. Unlike the raster graphics, vector graphics are known to present the imagery in the form of geometrical shapes like polygonal structures and curves. A pixmap refers to a colored raster graphic image which is comprised of one to eight bits corresponding to each pixel including those of the primary colors. It is to be noted here that the raster graphics are immensely dependent on resolution.

The invention of Camcorders

Camcorders

Camcorders refer to portable equipments which offer both video supported by audio recording facilities and is an electronic device. Previously when the camcorders were released fro the first time, they used analog video tapes. However with the improvement of technological skills and with the progress of time, the camcorders came to be used for the recording of digital videos. The camcorder at present is comprised of both a video cassette recorder and a video camera and hence it receives its name. Each camcorder has three distinct parts which perform a variety of functions. These are the lens, the imager and the recorder. The lens is required to grasp light from the light source and focus it on the imager. The lens also allows certain regulation of functions like zoom, aperture and shutter speed. The imager is more of an image sensor which contains a CMOS or CCD sensory device which transforms the light received from the lens in the form of electronic video signals through a complex electronic process. In the digital camcorders which are prevalently used nowadays, the ADC or analog to digital converter enables to the analog output into a digital video signal. The third most important part of the camcorder is the recorder which ensures the transferring of this video signal into the final recording medium.

Improved techniques employed in the composition of digital camcorders have greatly enhanced its quality of service. The new age digital camcorders contain miniDV, Digital8, DVD, hard disk, flash memory and one of the major advantages it has over its analog counterparts is the fact that they provide higher resolution compared to the analog versions and are also free of jitters and color bleeding problems. These camcorders aid in recording events of great importance, historically or politically and are thus very helpful for the media and also for entertainment purposes like celluloid ventures.

However, voyeurism is a common problem and thus camcorders need to be used with responsibility.

Computer flat screens the future of screens

Computer flat screens

One of the most significant tools required for the functioning of the computer is the computer monitor which is responsible fro presenting all the imageries and actions on the computer screen and needless to say it is indispensable fro the proper functioning of the computers. While initially computer screens displayed images via the use of CRT or the cathode ray tube technology, at present flat screens have become prevalent and such screens like the TFL LCD are currently being used in computer monitor screens.

In fact it can be said without a trace of doubt that the LCDs or liquid crystal displays are the prominent technical tools used in computer monitors for the flat screens. Also plasma displays are emergingly becoming common in terms of usage in case of flat screen computer monitors. The various digital monitors are nowadays referred to as TTL monitors because of their allegiance to the TTL logic chips necessary for their functioning though the digital monitors now also support other technological tools like TMDS or LVDS protocols.

In the TTL monochrome monitors, two digital signals were responsible for controlling the electrons and consisted of an intensity bit to regulate the brightness of the pixels and also possessed a video bit as well. In the EGA digital monitors, a total of about six digital signals are employed and a specific signaling method called RrGgBb was used in order to control the activities of the six electrons. The electron gun here is placed in the intensity bit and this enables the primary colors to display in four different conditions thus allowing a total of 64 colors to be displayed in the monitor. In the CGA digital monitors the RGBI technology is used with four distinct digital signals employed to control the action of three electrons. The major flat screen digital computer monitor manufacturers include Apple, Sony, Dell, Acer, LG, Hewlett-Packard etc.

Bridge digital cameras

Bridge digital cameras

Bridge digital cameras refer to a kind of live preview digital cameras or LPDs. The live preview digital cameras are those which have an electronic screen where it is possible to view the images before they are captured finally. Bridge digital cameras are an enhanced variety of these live preview digital cameras and they are so called as they are at a median zone in terms of functioning forming a bridge between the DSLR or digital single lens reflex cameras and the compact digital cameras. In terms of size, the bridge digital cameras can be compared to the smallest version of the DSLR cameras and also possess larger lenses. Most of these bridge cameras possess a CCD image sensor and a single fixed lens which cannot be changed. The CCD sensors in the bridge cameras are usually smaller than those of the DSLR cameras though at times some of them may contain larger sensors. The presence of a single lens allows enhanced zooming quality and longer focal lengths thus ensuring premium quality photographs and images.

However, some recent models of bridge digital cameras released by Sony reveal certain differences having electronic viewfinders and larger CMOS image sensors instead of the CCD sensors which were used earlier. Apart from the use of the electronic viewfinder or the EVF, LCD or liquid crystal display are the common screen types in the bridge digital cameras and all bridge digital cameras possess LCD screens and the EVF or electronic viewfinder and the OVF or the optical viewfinder are often present as supplementary. The absence of any mirror in the LPD cameras allows the non-blockage of images formed by the lens over the image sensors. Most importantly the preview function which is the most important characteristic of these LPD cameras allows witnessing all the possibilities and displaying function before capturing the image.

LPD cameras are often critiqued for their low duration of battery life and inefficiency of the electronic screens compared to the DSLR cameras.

Who Feels Like Adding A Slight ‘Spike’ To Their Espresso?

Spiked Esperesso

For those of you, who need an extra spike in their Espresso, this Saeco Etienne Louis is more than happy to help you do just that.
This spiky machine, is basically constructed with steel, and has aluminum ’spikes’ around it. The sphere, has a water heating compartment, that is hidden.

A great and dangerous design, this thing sure does look like a beauty to me. However, what it makes up for in look, it lacks in performance :P
This thing, can only pump out, a maximum of 2 cups of Espresso at a time. So, I have reason to believe that the third guest has to wait for some time, before he can feel ’spiked’.

Control Your KeyBoard And Mouse Without Your Hands Using Lomak Light

Lomak light

Well, Lomak seriously may seem a bit awkward name for a gadget. But, this is probably the first word, that has some meaning attached to it. Lomak (Light Operated Mouse and Keyboard), is the ultimate in hands free computer control.

For those who find the traditional keyboard and mouse odd or difficult, here’s a new twist.

So, Lomak, is operated via your hand, or head. The users, aim a beam of light, at a pad that has numbers and letters in a rotary style. The numbers/letters appear on the screen, as the light passes through it.

There is absolutely no requirement for any special software or any extra calibration. Moreover, it does not change the UI of your existing programs.

As far as I know, this thing is just an idea, a concept. However, I’d love to see and use it physically.
Not sure if it works for FPS (First Person Shooter) games. Imagine watching a person shaking his head in violent frenzy to try and kill another player :P

Timecap USB Drive. Something Apart From The Normal

Timecap1

At a first glance, I thought this was just another joke from the tech designers, to take a break from their usual boring (eek!) work.
Pretty much looks like a small tray, or something of the sort that is designed to carry as much of ash as you can.

However, this ‘meaningless’ thing in the picture, is unique USB Drive, that is designed to last for one hell of a lifetime.

timecap2

Just a design concept, and not for sale anywhere yet, this thing sure does catch one’s attention for the fact that it has a unique look to it. Though, it is/was meant to be a capsule type design, people have mistaken it for an ash tray, and seems to me, that they want to stick to their first assumptions :P

What say guys?
