According to Taiwanese sources the Intel Shelton platform for cheaper desktops and portable laptops arrive earlier then planned. The platform will be ready in May and offer a series of cheap computers. The first processors will be as follows:

• Diamondville 230, single core, 1,6 GHz, 533FSB, 512 kB cache
• Diamondville XXX, dual core
• Diamondville N270
These new processors will be cheap to produce and they will be used in the next coming ultra portable laptops. I the next 3 years Intel plans to invest 1 billion USD in Asia to support them with delivering PC material. The ultra portable laptops using this processor will be a lot cheaper so if you are looking for a cheap ultra portable laptop I suggest that you wait until these are on the market.
