Want something like Google Analytics? For The Offline World Though
How many of you feel uncomfortable, or eerie, or awkward, or like a total geek, when a billboard stares back at you?
Just be careful, because the next time you are looking at a billboard, it may be staring right back at you, analyzing your actions, so move with care.
Developed by Xuuk, Inc and first shown at a presentation at Google, Eyebox2 is an exciting new way for advertisers to track which billboards, shelves, or plasma TVs are attracting attention.
“You know when you use flash photography and people get red eyes? Normally, you would use photo editing software to get rid of that,” Vertegaal explains. “Our software works the same way, except it solicits a red eye in people standing in front of it, and uses it.”
Basically, this is exactly like Google Analytics, but for the offline world, allowing the advertisers to measure the effectiveness of product placements and performances of their adverts.
Until now, eye-tracking systems worked up to half a meter. But with the release of Eyebox 2, the distance has increased to 10 meters. That’s a huge increase of 20 times!
Going at $999 a piece, this thing really does help advertisers to increase advertising effectiveness, and target the places that are more popular than others, thus helping them to cut costs, and be more competitive, blah blah blah….
Did that not just sound like a business lecture? It did to me…
Comments welcome guys
