Want something like Google Analytics? For The Offline World Though

Eyebox 2

How many of you feel uncomfortable, or eerie, or awkward, or like a total geek, when a billboard stares back at you?

Just be careful, because the next time you are looking at a billboard, it may be staring right back at you, analyzing your actions, so move with care.

Developed by Xuuk, Inc and first shown at a presentation at Google, Eyebox2 is an exciting new way for advertisers to track which billboards, shelves, or plasma TVs are attracting attention.

“You know when you use flash photography and people get red eyes? Normally, you would use photo editing software to get rid of that,” Vertegaal explains. “Our software works the same way, except it solicits a red eye in people standing in front of it, and uses it.”

Basically, this is exactly like Google Analytics, but for the offline world, allowing the advertisers to measure the effectiveness of product placements and performances of their adverts.

Until now, eye-tracking systems worked up to half a meter. But with the release of Eyebox 2, the distance has increased to 10 meters. That’s a huge increase of 20 times!

Going at $999 a piece, this thing really does help advertisers to increase advertising effectiveness, and target the places that are more popular than others, thus helping them to cut costs, and be more competitive, blah blah blah….
Did that not just sound like a business lecture? It did to me…

Comments welcome guys ;)

Navitas Bicycle Trailer…. Powers You Up In A Variety Of Ways

New Concept Bike

Paul Smith, the british designer has whipped up a new concept design of a bike trailer, that is supposed to generate power in 3 ways.

While towing it behind a bicycle, the trailer’s 24-volt is automatically charged.
Once you reach your destination, you can release it from the bicycle, and detach the the wheel of the trailer. Now, why would you detach the wheel? Remember, it generates power in more than one way.

So, the wheel converts into a wind turbine, that collects solar energy with its small photovoltaic array. Sweet eh?

Before going to sleep, you can plug in all your electronic devices to its power outlet (which somewhat resembles a car cigarette lighter). And just incase you happen to have any gadgets with you, there is also a few USB ports in it to plug your IPod, mp3 player, or anything.

At the same time, you can keep the battery charging provided the day is either sunny, or windy. Or maybe both ;)

I’d say, nice concept design, great idea. Now, only if they could implement it.
Oh yeah, the whole thing is/will be made of recyclable materials. So, chances are it won’t be too heavy.

What say guys?

Folder Shaped USB Drive, You Guys Need Some Change?

Finger Folder

“What happens when Art Lebedev Studios puts a real folder on a device that holds virtual folders?”

The virtual folders say, “this is unfair infringement of copyright laws”.

The new, and ‘cute’ (referred in some blogs) USB drive is a technically graphical innovation in Portable Storage System of the Universe.

There’s no word out on the price tag, but we are hoping this to be cheaper then Dell’s XPS H2C. You see, they are so lost in their world of fancy designs that chances are they may class this USB drive as a luxury and an exotic product. And when this happens, specifically to a gadget, you know what happens to those dreaded price tags.

What do you guys have to say about this?

Pool Treadmill, Swimming Steady

Pool Treadmill

You know, if you are tired of all those laps you have to do round and round that oval shaped swimming pool they have at the local club, then the Pool Treadmill is just the thing for you.

Ofcourse, I won’t say that this thing comes cheap, but it is useful for some of you lazy peeps out there. Mind you, it does not make life or losing weight easy :P

Going at $3,999 this monster creates a downstream current where it is placed. So you would still be swimming, but would be exactly the same place you started flapping your hands like those helpless/excited dolphins I get to see each time I go with the family on weekends.

Sure enough $4,000 ain’t cheap. But, how about the possibility that in the long term it could turn out to be overall a great investment ;)

Comments welcome guys :)

Steady Pointer Stabilizes Your Shakkky Hand

Steady Pointer

Well, I am not sure myself why I am reviewing this thing. But I guess it was special enough to make way to a blog entry here at Stackians.

Steady Pointer has been designed for the guys who are all shaky when being the center of attention of a crowd of people, and babbling away with the crappy presentation.

Sure enough you may not be that confident, but atleast a steady hand could help save the day. Well, Steady Pointer does exactly that. In simple terms, it stabilizes your jittery hand during a presentation. So, you could be shaking like a small girl trapped in a hijacked aeroplane, yet noone would be able to make it out ;)

Not sure how solid this thing is, but the video demos sure seem like this thing actually works. Check out the product page for more info.

The Pirate Bay launches its new image hosting service. New, and Unique..

Photo Hosting service from pirate bayDo you any of you remember The Pirate Bay? The torrent site, run by Sweedes, and that the MPAA and the RIAA hate so much ;)

Well, yeah, they’ve just launched their own Image Hosting service. So what’s the big news? Image Hosting services keep popping up everyday… But, the reason why I am blogging about this particular one is because unlike all the others, these guys won’t take any of your personal information, and will NOT take down any of your photos, no matter how ‘inappropriate’ they are :P ;)

Yeah, I know what you are thinking. I bet you want to host that picture of the cute girl you shot naked at the beach eh? And yeah, just incase you feel embarassed later, they’ll also provide you with a delete link. ;) Things could never be better…
What say?

LG Phone, With Google Preloaded… New Combo?

Google preloaded phone

What you see above is the new LG KU580 pre-loaded with many Google apps such as Gmail, Google Maps, search, etc. Many outlets, such as The Register are calling this the ultimate Google Phone.
Nothing special to me I would say. What do you find special about a phone that is pre-loaded with apps that you can download for free anyways? :P

Anyway, the phone is a 3G phone, with 2MP camera and styling that is similar to the LG Chocolate.

Does this mean a partnership between Google and LG? Well, you never know… Google has always liked to release its new products/services by surprise and a big BANG! Could this be just another one of those? :P

Fat chances I would say, but let’s just wait and watch.. Comments welcome ;)

Another CellPhone Strap… HandCuffs This Time

Handcuff strap

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you look at that picture?
Well, in my case, I thought this was just another gadget showoff for the next upcoming Bond 007 movie. Seriously though, this thing is cool.. :P

Donno about you guys, but I guess this is just a smart strap ;)

This miniature handcuff cellphone strap from Strap-Ya comes with two sets of keys that you can use to lock your fingers together…. yeah, exactly, those wild wild fingers :P

What say, you not into that stuff? Well, how about using them to hang your cellphone from your jeans. That would be pretty fancy eh? Well, yeah, it would be, but back here, it would be just as risky. Anyone could grab it. A small jerk, and this mini piece of metal will come off ;)

What you say guys?

Jetpacks Finally For Sale… What You Waiting For

jetpacksHey, got news for ya! There are 2 jetpacks, for sale, Right Now!!
Popmechanics put both of them into test in the July Issue. So, now, I’ll be reviewing it. Well, yea, kind of ;)

The Tam Rocket Belt costs around $250K. It has a top speed of 60MPH and flies for about 30 seconds on average.

The Jetpack H202 has a top speed of 70MPH, flies for about 33 seconds and is going at a nice $155K.

Both of the jetpacks weigh over 100 pounds, and are powered by Hydrogen Peroxide. That’s wonderful ;)

Jet pack has also annouced that next year, it will release a model that flies for around 19 minutes and is powered by Jet-A fuel, instead of Hydrogen Peroxide. That could be.. well, I would say kind of dangerous, but it’s just too early to make any conclusions yet ;)

Twisted, but Innovative Fan Design, Packs Twice The Efficiency

Hmm, this one’s cool

Well, yeah, that’s another phsyco type design from Sycamore. But turns out, that it is the best design so far, economically. With just one blade that is twisted like a deformed night slipper, at 70 to 130 revs per minute, this thing generates the same amount of airflow as any other normal fan would for twice the speed.

Well, that is what makes me think that this afterall IS more efficient, and could also be a new look, a new addition instead of the same old 3 blade fans you’ve been looking at for the past 100 years!

Currently they are selling in Australia, but it won’t be long before the technology spreads far and wide, big time!
I would suggest, someone come up with a similar design for PC Case Fans. Seriously, need one of these. Would give me either twice the cooling, or half the noise generated by my current fans :P

Here’s the Product Page ;)
